A Conversation with Cometan (abbreviated ACWC) is an online video series and podcast created by the Astronist Institution that features Cometan interviewing and engaging in conversation with a wide variety of individuals involved in the areas of religion, philosophy, and space exploration. It was originally published on the digital platform YouTube, but has since also been distributed to other platforms like the Astronism Channel, Dailymotion, Goodreads, IMDb, Academia and other sites.
The third and current season of the show is set to premiere on 3rd January 2022 and will feature Cometan hosting again. Michael York, David Warner Mathisen, and Octavio Chon have been announced as cast members so far. The first and second seasons consisted of eight and nineteen episodes respectively with the first season running from October 2020 to February 2021 and the second season from March to August 2021.
Overview and casting
Season 1
Main article: Season 1 of A Conversation with Cometan
The premiere season of A Conversation with Cometan saw eight episodes published. David Warner Mathisen was featured in episodes while Jeffrey Kotyk, Giulia Carla Bassani, Giulio Prisco and Howard Bloom were featured in one episode each. Harith Ramli featured as a guest in the lecture episodes titled Astronism: A Space Religion. The season featured two special lecture episodes and six interview episodes and ran from 22nd October 2020 to 8th February 2021.
Season 2
Main article: Season 2 of A Conversation with Cometan
Season 2 comprised nineteen episodes in total, more than double than the previous season. Giulio Prisco returned from Season 1 and was featured in two episodes. New cast members included Adriano Autino, Steven Wolfe, Philip van Nedervelde, Michael York, Alberto Cavallo, Tsvi Bisk and Paul Ziolo. Namrata Goswami, Rachel Lyons and Natasha Vita-More appeared as guests as part of the 2021 Terasem Colloquium episode. The season consisted of four interview episodes, one special Vicinal Assembly episode, a lecture episode as part of the 2021 Terasem Colloquium, three single format episodes with Cometan speaking alone and a total of ten lecture episodes. The season ran from 15th March to 16th August 2021.
Season 3
Main article: Season 3 of A Conversation with Cometan
The season officially announced on 23rd September 2021 and the official poster was revealed, the first to include the Second Iteration of the Cometan logo. It was announced on 17th October 2021 that production had begun on the third season. On 14th November 2021, it was announced that David Warner Mathisen would be returning to the show following his absence from Season 2 and would feature in the premiere episode of Season 3. On 19th November 2021, it was announced that Michael York would feature in Season 3 following his initial appearance in Season 2 and that Octavio Chon would also be joining the main cast for the third season. On 19th December 2021, it was announced that Giulio Prisco would be returning for Season 3, meaning Prisco has been a full cast member for every season of the show so far. On 16th January 2022, it was announced that Namrata Goswami would be making a return from Season 2 but upgraded to a main cast role from a guest role. On 29th January 2022, it was announced that Steven Wolfe would be returning as a main cast member from his first appearance in Season 2. The mid-season break began on 14th March 2022 following the publication of the eleventh episode of Season 3. The second half of the season is due to begin airing in April 2022. On the 29th April 2022, it was announced that Andrew Copson, the Chief Executive of Humanists UK, would be featured in the second half of Season 3 as a main cast member. Filming for Season 3 finished on 27th May 2022 after seven months of production.
