(the Astrocene) a future geological age, or chron of the Anthropocene, proposed by Astronist theory to begin with the acceleration of spacefaring activities, especially the mass commercialisation of spaceflight, viewed as the period during which the space industry will possess dominant influence over the climate and the environment.

Origin and etymology[]

  • Astro-English: from Astronese, the word Astrocene was first coined by Cometan during The Year of Completion during his Master’s degree; composed of the prefix astro-, denoting the astronomical world, combing with the suffix -cene, denoting a geological age; meaning ‘the age of the dominance of spaceflight.’
