Astronism proper, also referred to as Inner Astronism, or Core Astronism, is a post-omnidoxical Cometanic term denoting a form of Astronism referring to the population of people who self-identify specifically as Astronists. In astrogenology, the term is contrasted with Greater Astronism which also includes those whom identify with astrology and astrolatrism. In turn, Greater Astronism includes a larger population than Astronism proper.

The term is also used in contrast with uninspired Astronism which includes all people that believe or identify with some element of Astronism, but do not necessarily identify as Astronists in particular. The term Astronism proper can also act as an alternative term for Institutional Astronism; this is the form of Astronism espoused by the Astronist Institution which is the proprietor of the religion.
