Astronist Freedom is an annual report published by the Astronist Institution that focuses on all aspects of Astronist religious freedom, the state of affairs for other Astronic religions and their followers, as well as highlights the unjust actions of other belief systems that do not adhere to fundamental human rights, namely religious liberty laws.
Cult and religion dichotomy[]
Each Astronist Freedom report includes a segment that involves the designation of different religions and philosophies as religions, cults, philosophies, or organised philosophies.
Importantly, the Astronist Institution, through the Astronist Freedom report, propounds its definitions of a cult, a religion, a philosophy, and an organised philosophy, which are as follows:
- Cult – a system of belief that does not allow for its followers to leave, i.e. a religion rejecting apostasy.
- Religion – a system of belief that allows for its followers to leave the religion.
- Philosophy – a system of thought and ethics that holds no central authority.
- Organised philosophy – a system of belief, thought, and ethics that has a central authority.
