Charles Airey (also spelt as Ayrey; 1707 – September 17, 1781) was an English boot repairer and the 8th great-grandfather of Cometan, classified as one of Cometan’s distant paternal ancestors in the McKerney family line.
Born in Low Biggins in Kirkby Lonsdale, Yorkshire, Charles was the son of Oswald Airey (1675 – 1720) and Margaret Clapham (1666 – 1714). Charles married Ann Willan on 25th December 1727 and with whom he had five children named Margaret, Oswald, John, William, and George respectively. It is William Airey whom connects Charles to Cometanic ancestry.
After the death of his first wife in 1746, Charles married Mary Hodgson in 1746 and with her had a further four children named Elisabeth (b. 1747), George (b. 1749), Richard (b. 1750), and Roger (b. 1753). Charles is recorded as having died at the age of 74 in 1781 in Sedbergh, Yorkshire.
In Cometanic ancestry, Charles is categorised as part of the 10th generation retrograde, classifying him as a distant ancestor of Cometan.
