The Cometanic theory of recognition, often organised into and interchangeably referred to as recognitionism, or recognitionist theory, is the sum of Cometan's hypotheses regarding recognition of religion or belief. It is based on the fundamental assertion that the powers of state recognition or lack thereof hold consequences for conditions of religious freedom.
