Ellen de Houghton (also spelt as de Hoghton; née Venables; c.1310 – 1386) was the 24th great-grandmother of Cometan, classified as one of Cometan’s medieval paternal ancestors in the Taylor family line.

Born in Kinderton, Middlewich, Cheshire, Ellen was the wife of Adam de Houghton and is also known to have been the daughter of Hugh de Venables, 8th Baron of Kinderton and Agatha de Vernon of Shipbrook. Ellen is known to have been the mother of Sir Richard de Hoghton. The details surrounding Adam death remain clouded except for that she is recorded as having died sometime after 1386 somewhere in Lancashire.

In Cometanic ancestry, Ellen is categorised as part of the 26th generation retrograde, and because she was born before 1453, she is classified as a medieval ancestor of Cometan, a title that is rarely bestowed.
