Extraterrestrialism is general belief in the existence of extraterrestrial life without specification as the type of such life, the frequency of such life or the nature and extent of its interactions with humanity. These factors create a range of different beliefs in extraterrestrial life which come together to form a spectrum. A person who holds a broad belief in the existence of life beyond Earth may be called an extraterrestrialist.
