Nancy “Nanny” Taylor (née Wimpenny; January 7, 1822 – July 1901) was the 4th great-grandmother of Cometan, classified as one of Cometan’s distant paternal ancestors in the Taylor family line. Born in Oldham (then part of Lancashire), Nancy is registered as having been the wife of James Taylor, whom she married on 6th February 1842 at St Mary’s Church in Oldham, and having been the mother of James Taylor (born 1852), the 3rd great-grandfather of Cometan. Her parents were named Benjamin Wimpenny (1801 – 1857) and Alice Wrigley (1800 – 1867). Nancy died in July 1901 in Oldham, Lancashire.

Nancy was baptised on 13th May 1822 at the Greenacres Congregational Church in Oldham, Lancashire.

According to the 1841 England Census, Nancy was living, at the age of twenty, in "Prestwich Cum Oldham” in Lancashire. According to the 1881 England Census, Nancy is recorded as living at 13 Malpas Street in Oldham, Lancashire with her husband James and their two youngest sons, Herbert and Joseph, aged twenty and fifteen respectively.

James and Nanny are known to have had ten children, named Sarah (b. 1843), Thomas (b. 1844), Ben (b. 1846), Mary Alice (b. 1849), and then James, followed by George (b. 1954), John (b. 1856), Maria (1859-1906), Herbert (b. 1861), and Joseph (b. 1865).

In Cometanic ancestry, Nancy is categorised as part of the 6th generation retrograde, classifying her as a distant ancestor of Cometan.
