Protoanthropology is a major Astronist discipline, often classified as part of astrofuturology, that studies –– in contrast to astroeschatology –– "the first things" in relation to humankind and the astronomical world, such as the origins of humanity or the first human experience of astronality, usually in ways that relate these initial or original events to contemporary or future conditions of the human species. A protoanthropologist therefore studies "the first events of humanity in relation to the astronomical world."
