Robert Fairclough of Tarleton (c. 1635 – 1694) was an English landowner and the 9th great-grandfather of Cometan, classified as one of Cometan’s distant paternal ancestors in the Stringfellow family line. Born in Holmeswood, Lancashire, Robert was the son of George Fairclough (1595 – 1660) and Catherine Ashcroft (1615 – 1673) and the husband of Margaret Ann Rimmer (1644 – 1739). Robert is recorded as having died at the age of fifty-nine in Holmeswood, Lancashire.
Robert Fairclough’s will from 4th February 1693 has recently been recovered in which it is recorded that Robert had six children named George, Henry, Thomas, William, Catherine and Margaret. Robert is also recorded as having been the owner of Westhead House in Westhead, Lancashire which he bestowed to his Henry and Thomas equally.
In Cometanic ancestry, Robert is categorised as part of the 11th generation retrograde, classifying him as a distant ancestor of Cometan.
